New Project: Latent Space Curation through Hybrid Metaheuristics

Posted on December 19, 2022December 20, 2022 by Andrei Sipoș

We are announcing a new research project, a collaboration with the Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science, University of Bucharest; Ion Mincu University of Architecture and Urban Planning; International Center for Research and Education in Innovative Creative Technologies (CINETic); and the “Arhitectura Celuilalt” Association.

The project addresses the complex decision-making process within the algorithmically generated design framework in the field of architecture.

A hybrid optimization and curation model of latent space is proposed, based on the concept of “affective computing” (Picard 1995), in order to address form generation by evolutionary-genetic algorithms in architecture.

The same design problem will be optimized and discretized by two methods: firstly metaheuristically and secondly based on affective computing. The obtained results will be analyzed comparatively in terms of process and outcome.

For more information, see the project page.
